No. I let it run on my home computer while I was at work! and yes we do have a very fast connection in the office that doesn't freak over huge files!

I am planning on sending the guy some money -this is great work. I wonder if he can do this with map image files, could he do the same with ortho photographs? That would be cool!

I am just about to load some on the GPS - let you know in a few minutes!

Just finished installing Ibycus. Nice add-on. Took 3 hr 18 min to download. Anybody know the creators email? Haven't compared everything/everywhere: sometimes Mapsource seems better other times Ibycus. Nice to have more options.

I loaded a couple of mapsheets (shows Joker's house) and it looks good (the GPS image not Joker's house!). Gives way more detail and you can see the small roads without zooming in as far. The contours are not as noticable until you zoom in, so it doesn't get cluttered. I don't know what it would look like on a non-colour screen because of all the green on the federal maps but it looks fine in colour.

Is it worth the time it takes to load? Yes. Is it worth sending the kid that developed this some money - You bet! It's about time someone started to break Garmin's strangle hold.

I now have Topo Canada, City Navigator 2008 and Ibycus Topo on my computer and my GPS. Glad I got the 2 Gb card!

Glad you guys are finding Ibycus as useful as I am. I am now flipping through areas with the main Mapsouce map before zooming in with Ibycus. Great detail and routing is very clear to plot. Maybe one day I will plot a route and come down south instead of always going north from where I live.

When I load the new maps to my GPS it names the file the same as topo canada and I can't seem to get both onto my GPS. I can have either topo canada or the new topo maps but not both. I am not talking about showing both maps show on the screenat the same time, I am talking about have both show on my map list. Any suggestions

I have both topos on my mapsend , no problem

Normally, you go to map information and select the map you want to see. Assuming you loaded both into it. Are you saying they don't show up under map information?

It may also be the fact that you have to select the regions from both maps when uploading.

I already had the topo canada loaded and my GPS showed both North America and Topo Canada. I then loaded the Ibycus topo onto my sd card (which is where my topo canada is) and it over wrote my topo canada file so now I had Ibycus topo and North America city maps. I did save my topo canada on another card so nothing is lost, but there must be someway to get all three to show up on my GPS.

I did notice that the Ibycus topo and the topo canada both had the same file name.

I don't know how you would load both topos at the same time because they are on different screens

Picked up this thread on Google, thought I'd stop by and see what I could contribute. Very odd that it would hang after download. Are you sure it was hung? The install shouldn't care if you already have mapsource installed or not. I've been told that on some systems, the installer takes in inordinate amount of time to run (on the order of hours). Possibly this was the problem.

When I put the link on my links page I will make sure to give the standard disclaimer. Actually I should probably put a disclaimer at the top of the links page. You know, the one that says that all of the information provided is not meant for navigation purposes. And that this map is especially useful as a second source of information wrt the Garmin topo map. The Garmin is out of date but does let you navigate. I'm sure this ismore up to datebut still not perfect.

So it's true power is in that you can refer to it when you get contradicting information from Garmin and thehundredsof 12 year old trees that you see in front of you on the road that grew in. Or you can make this your default and Garmin topo as your backup. But I would recommend as many backups as useful. I even have paper maps.

Sorry, I haven't tried again since. I probably will this weekend. I'm trying to balance this work with getting my maintenance complete. I was very upset yesterday seeing all those bikes on the road and I still haveall my bikework to do:mad3:

So upset in fact that I went out and had beer and played a poker tourny while I contemplate my procrastination wrt my bike maintenance.;)
