If I'm reading the input correctly it looks like we're pretty much in agreement with the routes shown here:
4362_Day_Trip_-_Revision_1.jpg

The dark red track is common to both days. The magenta track is our route north to Lillooet on day one. On day two we'll ride the blue route back to the dark red, with the cycan route being an option. The option adds about 40km of pavement to day two. Day one covers about 210km and day two about 295 km, or if we take the option about 340 km. Please let us know your thoughts about these tracks or if there are any other routes you'd rather do.

I'm all for it! Shodding the KLR with 606's for the trip. Should be able to take along a cooler. Looking for an easily removable holder, for a Garmin Map60 GPS, that I can switch between the KLR and the KLX. Any ideas?

Thanks, Gordon

Hi Gordon, you can buy a ball mount for your handlebars at Deakins Equipment, or do some surfing and order one on-line - they cost about $10 -$15 tops. I bought one for the Honda and one for the Versys, makes it a snap to move the GPS between bikes.

Looks good to me John. I do likethe option thru Pavillion and down Hat Creek although it does may Day 2 a little longer.
So I'm OK with either one.

Hi Bryn, I've always wanted to ride hwy 99 north through Pavillion so I won't have any objections if that's the route of choice. I'm just glad I'm gonna have my truck waiting for me at Harrison Hot Springs 'cause either way I know what I'm gonna feel like when I get back to it. Riding another 70 miles back to Ladner on that little 230 wouldn't be much fun.

John, I kinda like the the Pavillion option too. It seems like more of a official route, the other way seems a bit like riding in the ditch along side of Hwy 12.
I could see right away the sea to sky route wasn't going to work for you. Arranging truck drop offs and pickups at both ends reminds me of Deliverance.
I hope there's no banjos where were going.

NO BANJOS???? Aw man, that was gonna be the surprise highlight of the whole trip. Now I'm gonna have to go back and tell those guys not to show up. Damn! if I could only figure out how to keep him from drooling on my shoes.

Guess that makes 3 for the Pavilion route. What say the rest of you guys?

Riding anywhere in that area beats working so I'mgood for any of those routes. I hope we can minimize the pavement riding though.....such a waste of good knobbys you know.

We couldalsomakethe final decision over some jugs on the evening of day one!:hb:

Hey Dean, that's an excellent suggestion. It makes a lot of sense to see how we feel at the end of day one before making the decision to take the short route or the long one on day two.

I'd be interested to take the new loop thats shaping up - 2 of them sound similar; basically a day of Lillooet to BB on the westside road (or backwards), then Pavilion to Hat to Lytton then home on the westside, or nicoamen down to BB then home. The road from BB to Lillooet on the west side is basically the same terrain though really nice, the three detours to the east of this have lots of interesting variations. Both the road north of Lytton a few km off Botanie and south-east have tower roads where you can take a quick ride up to alpine and have a nice 360 degree view.

If there's any pavement needed then the hwy from Lillooet to Fountain valley/Pavilion Lake is a must. Pavilion Lake has fresh water corals, which you can see starting at 6 feet deep, only one of three small lakes in the world that have corals outside the ocean.

Here is a mileage chart with the various legs colour coded. The distances were obtained from plots made in Garmin Mapquest. The longest stretch without gas is from Harrison Hot Springs to Lillooet - a distance of 215km. There is the option of backtracking 20km to Boston Bar (green leg) for gas half way through this stretch but it would probably be easier to pack some extra gas rather than add 40km to your first day trip. To be on the safe side you should carry enough gas to take you 240km for the first day.

Man, I could probably do that on my Sherco with it's meager 8.5 liter tank! That is, of course if it would run that long after my recent attempts to repair :hr:

Uh-Oh:cross:, which reminds me I need to pack a tow strap/rope in my kit for this trip. Also now that the route has changed is the meet point still at the Sasquatch Inn or somewhere in Harrison proper ?

Cheers, Alex.

Everything is good, I just have had a few things go wrong this last year and that worries me when I am miles from nowhere. Somedays I wish I had a good old DR350 for those long trips :D

End of hijack....

The meet point will be changed to somewhere in Harrison Hot Springs. I don't know where just yet. I'm waiting for a warm sunny day to take a cruise up there on the Versys and check things out. that should happen within a week or so.
