Hi Aaron, I thought there might be a way to stay on the west side of the Fraser from Lillooet all the way down to the Nahatlatch FSR but I wasn't sure. I'd rather avoid riding Hwy 1 down the canyon from Lytton to Boston Bar so if you can show me the route you took I'd much appreciate it.

From Lillooet the road south is Texas Creek Road. Around Lytton it becomes Westside road as far as I know. The only map I have of it is the Backroad Mapbook. From Lytton on to the south it's not really a road at all though. It passes through some Native reserves including right down one guy's driveway! Totally KLR do-able, but the road isn't very obvious in some places.

Hey, Aaron, great ride report. It makes me even more anxious to get going. I noticed that you are one of the people who has expressed interest in this ride but hasn't been able to confirm the time-off yet. Sure hope you can make it. It would be great to have an experienced guide along. I'm going to take a really good look at the dirt only route from Lillooet to Nahatlatch. I'd much rather do that route than the one that is currently scheduled.
How do you other guys who have confirmed that you're going on this ride feel about the dirt only route - do you want to try it?

Guys....a few of ushave done the Lillooet to Nahatlatch to Harrison route once in each direction. We never had any problem going through the reserves, or "going down the guy's driveway". It is a much nicer route than doing pavememnt! There are a couple of rough spots, but nothing that any of you wouldn't make it through.

But, watch out for the guys dog! The little bugger waits for you under one of the parked vehicles and is smart enough to wait until your right there to pounce. He has never gotten me but has come pretty close, go slow then gas it.
The other thing to be aware of, that time of year is the spring freshet and the cable ferry to Lytton may not be running. This is not a problem if you have enough gas to get all the way to Lilloet.
Have fun, if it works out maybe I might come along.

I never meant to imply the driveway was a problem, just a navigational hurdle for first timers, I mean I was a little confused! I never once got the feeling I was trespassing, I should have clarified that. The route is legit, no worries.
Funny how everyone know what "the driveway" is though.

yeah I rember that dog. I kicked it in the head so he should be nice and angry when he see's dirt bikes again. Or afraid? There were lots of rock slides before keefers too which made it a bit technical for bigger bikes. that is the best part of the trip. 200 feet directly above the fraser riding the west ridge.

I believe the Harrison West road has been washed out at the north end (the good dirt biking section). Keep tabs at this link to stay in the know.

Pete, I downloaded your GPS track from Vexorg's site and this is definitely the route I want to take, and I think everyone else will too. Tomorrow I will paste it into the the GPS map I already have and everything should be complete. I will also load it into Google Earth and see how it looks in the satellite view. I will also re-calculate the distances for gas consumption. It looks like the longest leg will now be from Lillooet to Harrison Hot Springs, although, if need be we should be able to cross the river into Lytton and get gas there without too much trouble - hopefully the freshet won't be running too hard by June 9. It usually peaks around the end of May.
know_fear, thanks for the link to the govt road info, that will be a big help. I am a little concerned about the washout but I think they should have it fixed by June 9, but ya never know. There was a report of some jeeps getting around the washout a short while ago but I'm not sure if it was legit. There was also some guys on bikes who said they got around it without too much trouble so I'm not overly concerned about it. I will also check with them re snow conditions but there's a small snow pack this year so it should not be a problem either.

Hi Zeddy, I can't speak for anyone else but I'm trucking my bike to the Sasquatch and if I can't get permission to leave my truck on their parking lot overnight I'll park it on the road. I don't think that the risk on a Wed night is nearly as bad as the weekend. I'll mark you down as confirmed and that makes 6 of us who are going. The six are, Farp, Phoenix, One Lung, The Count, Eagle Guy and Zeddy.
Zeddy, just to be safe you should pack enough gas to take you 240 km. This is about 30 km more than our longest leg but I think you need to allow for side trips, wrong turns and back tracking. We're not camping so that should leave more room for packing gas. It looks like you'll need an additional 14 liters, which is just over 3 Imp gal, and which will weigh about 22 pounds plus the weight of the container.
The last time I did the Sasquatch to Pemberton ride was back in the early 70's. I was riding a BSA 500cc thumper with a two gallon tank and I wasn't packing any extra gas. I went on reserve about 10:30 at night in the pitch dark some where south of Mt Currie. I lugged it along in high gear at about 20mph and managed to make it to Pemberton shortly after 11:00. It's amazing what kind of mileage you can wring out of your bike when you really have to.
