I just found this thread and would like to tag along, if there is room.

I saw a post about accommodation in Lillooet and between the three hotels (Renoylds, Victoria and Mile "0") there should be lots of room especially mid week. Camping is just outside town next to hwy 99 as you pass Seaton lake viewpoint.

Guildford Station indeed has great wings (and other stuff too) and if I can make it I will join the crowd.

Hi Ted, I'll add your name to the list.

We now have 11 riders signed on and 7 more tentative. If all the tentative riders can find the time we'll have 18 riders going on this trip. How do all of you feel about having such a large group? Do you think we should close it to those who have already signed on and those who are tentative? Or should we just let the group grow without restraint?

Comments?

I think that a larger group will naturally break down into smaller ones.

The only thing is, should I put in a reservation now or wait till later?

Some times when the word gets out, things can get overgrown real fast. Nothing's stopping anyone from riding the route or choosing to go a day earlier or later, you never know, 100 people from ADV could show up.

I like to have some people to ride with, people that know the way especially. Don't know what I'm trying to say really. If I'm not having fun (which I doubt) I can always just go my own way.

I just want to have a nice quiet ride with some like minded riders. So far- thats what I think we have.

Any time for wings is OK with me!

In the interest of reducing complexity for the driving force behind the organising(Farp), I would suggest a max of the confirmed and the tentative up to twenty. Twenty is a nice number easily divisible into groups. However if others are interested they could make their own arrangements as necessary and there may be some who would like to just do a portion of the ride. For example there was a ride a couple of years ago where I rode part ways up the West sideand returned the same waywith a couple of other riders, causewe only had the one day to ride. Also I think the caveat should be that all riders should realize that this trip is not super technical but the ability and equipment to repair a flat and perform other trailside repairs be a part of your equipment,as well as some first aidsupplies. Shared knowledge and help within the group won't be a problem but if yourfront axle hasn't seen a wrench in two years:shock: andyou got no tube or tire patches:shoot:, well you get the idea.

Just so everyone knows, I've been a motorcycle mechanic for close to thirty years. I don't pack a ton of tools and can accomplish a lot with a little when need be.

I don't carry tools to beat out a rusted axle and hate hammering with rocks. Give your bike a once over or twice over before heading out into the woods for the day lol.

Thanks, for the input One Lung and Phoenix.

I think the way to go is to make the arrangements at the Reynolds Hotel with the secure bike lock-up available to those who have already confirmed and if there's any room left over it be dealt with on a first come first served basis. I haven't heard back from Caribooster yet on how many the Reynolds can accomodate, but it seems to me that 18 bikes is going to be as many, or more, than they can cope with - although right now we only have 11 confirmed with 7 tentative.

I would be extremely uncomfortable telling anybody that the ride is filled but I also think we are getting close to the point (if we're not already there) of telling late arrivals that although they are perfectly welcome they are going to have to take care of their own accomodations.

Alex, your comments re bike maintenance are well taken. I would hope that anybody undertaking a trip like this would have the smarts to go over his bike with a fine tooth comb and fix any and all maintenance issues.

Let's pick a night for the wing nuts; say sometime next week?

Gotta run, somthing about a hockey game!

We want to get the wing-nut night started as early as possible because some of the guys have to get up real early to go to work. The Clydesdale doesn't start serving their wings until 7:00 and that might run us a bit late. Sooooo...........Let's meet at the Guildford Station Pub, 10176 154 Street, Surrey, at 6:00PM on Tue night (Canucks play on Mon - Wed), because it seems to be the most central to everybody and it reputedly has the best wings around. We'll see about that!
:hb:

Caribooster, can you let me know what the bike storage capacity at the Reynolds Hotel is?

I will be contacting the hotel tomorrow. When I called earlier this week the person in charge was away until Friday. Look for my report tomorrow night.

I'll be in China until the 21st, but could probably make in that evening after 7PM (the highway from North Shore is gridlocked earlier).

Okay Gentelmen, here are the accomidation details for the trip. I have reserved all of the rooms in the Hotel for our group:clap:. Actually there are only 10 rooms and one was already gone so I took the remaining 9. I have negotiated a group rate under "Dualsport BC" which saves us about 15%. Std rate is $99 and I have carved a rate of $85/room for the group. This rate is the same regardless of whether you have single or double occupany. The block booking is being held until next Wednesday (April 21,2010). so if you are serious, call the hotel and book yourself a room. The number is 1-877-655-5506,the hotel is The Reynolds Hotel, and the room rate is above. Be sure to mention The group booking "Dualsport BC" or they will advise you that they are full for June 9th. They have 3 rooms with one bed, 3 with 2 beds, one with 3 beds and one with 1 bed and 1 hide-a-bed remaining.

The hotel has both a pub:hb:and a restaurant :cf2:so I am sure that there will be enough for everyone. Bike storage is going to be tight. The bikes will be sharing space inthe beer warehouse so we will have to be thirsty to make space for all the bikes. They advise me that they can fit 4 full size HD Dressers so I am sure that we can double that with the lightweight dual sports.

We can chat more at the wings night on additioanl details.

Brad.

Thanks, Brad, your input is much appreciated.

I have edited the first post in this thread to display all the up-to-date information for this ride. Would the riders whose information is incomplete please PM me so I can fill in the blanks. Also, would all those attending the wing-nut night please let me know so I can inform the pub.
