Hello, I will be picking up my 2011 690 next week and am looking for some new rubber. i am looking for an aggressive tire that will perform well in the dirt as well as on the road, high wearing would be a plus! Any recommendations on what tires to go with and which ones to stay away from?

The stock MT21 is a decent tire, respectable on road, but not great off.
I've had great performance and reasonable wear with the Dunlup 606 rear, and Mitas C-17 "StoneEater" front.
You can get Mitas and alot of other goodies from (one of our DSBC sponsors) MX1: http://www.mx1canada.com

Thanks offworlder, I picked up a set of MT21's yesterday at Holeshot, they are on sale $101 for the front & $115 for the rear, thought I would give them a try.

I had no complaints with the stock mt21's Got almost 2500km on the back, and almost 7000km on the front.

I am currently running an mt21 on the front, and a mt43 trials tire on the rear. I've got a little over 3000km on it now, and expect to get another 1000km before it will have to be replaced.

I think a common problem with the 690 is that it is hard on rear tires

My 690 destroys MT21 rear tires, so thats not an option for me. (as mentioned above) I typically run the Dunlop 606 rear, as its aggressive, stiff - hence it lasts longer than softer tires, and street legal. However, I recently put a Pirelli XCMH (mid hard) on, which is an even more aggressive tire (still street legal), but while performance is great - its wearing fast. So, think I'll swap it for another 606, and put the XCMH on the 350 ;).

If anyone has any further insights into the preservation of the endangered 690 rear, I'm all ears !

I am surprised there isn't more tire ideas being thrown around. One nice thing about the 690 is you get to try lots of rear tires!
