On this(last) weekend trip, our little "Gang of 690's" was 5 of the 6 Dudes slated for the Copper Canyon Mexico trip planned next spring (maybe,,). Missing is Terry from Kelowna here now is Floyd Stu Brent Robin and myself 04klr, though the handle doesn't properly fit these days as the bikes are all Orange now.
Saturday was a 9 hr ride leaving at 830 and almost all on dirt. Keeping current social rules in mind, we maintained acceptable distances and avoided parks with the exception of a travel thru from A to B.
If you're missing a red chevy, it could be up on Long Lake Rd, it's certainly dirty and it may be broken.

a little bigger shot, taken directly towards the morning sun making for a cool radial shadow.

midmorning snack break at Sabiston Lake.

2 day st 5.jpg

Here's some trick photography with Stu as the first and second rider both avoiding a rock and railing into the turn.

2 day st 7 (2).jpg

Floyd stole my camera for this shot. Not sure of the good/bad aspect but I seem to resemble that sunglass wearing samsung 5 Emogee.

P1280440 (2).JPG

back in my hand, a selfie view of the Hoodoos up Deadman's Valley.

Brent and Stu are in there.

2 day st 8 (2).jpg

stark burned off scenery.

2 day st8.jpg

Robin in this shot against the rust stained rock face in the background way across the valley of this, and the last picture.

P1280444 (2).JPG

In the area of Texas Creek, our stop for the night with plenty of tent distancing room. With the roaring river nearby there will be no listening to snoring tonite! (or hearing a Grizzly sniffing around the tent)

2 day st9.jpg

Floyd, who has been travelling packing a full sized folding camp chair (and all thru central and south americas!) couldn't pass on the opportunity of this left behind "camp" table, of the approx. same scale as his "camp" chair.

P1280467 (2).JPG

With breaky done, Stu with coffee in hand, we head out towards Lytton following the west side of the Fraser.

P1280455 (2).JPG

crappy pic. (bummer), taken a coupla minutes after leaving camp. Stellar clear blue skies lighting up the mountain and wrecking this shot. The bright mirror reflection didn't help either.

P1280478 (2).JPG

Waiting to take this pic. listening to music (sena 20s) I was quasi crouched on the inside of this corner well across the road from my bike when I had this feeling I was being watched. I turned to my right towards the road and stopped right there beside me, was a dodge pick-me-up. The fella driving had an odd look on his face and softly asked, "are you all right?", I had a good laugh and said that in fact I was fine thx.
here's Robin leading Stu towards me, in the ditch.

P1280491_stitch (2).jpg

(I was standing over there just ahead of Brent on the other side of the road)
Both approaching bikes are Brent the departing bike is Floyd in this 4 pic. pana. .

2 day st15.jpg

2 day st16.jpg

the scenery doesn't suck along the Fraser.

2 day st17 (2).jpg

Looks like I've maxed the pic. count for the day, guess there'll have to be another post, bummer. Spoiler alert for the next post! There will be no crashes, flats, or moments that suck! for the duration of this ride and that's, not a bummer.

thx fer lookin.

Back to day 2 continuing towards Lytton. Easy to pick out Robin with his Kamloops Motorcycle Riding Fools decal stuck on his helmet. This picture coincidentally looks very similar to roads we travelled in South America, near vertical (at the least very f'ing steep!) rock walls looking up or down and across the valley. The only thing missing was the Humidity and jungle. And gas from juice jugs. And stewed Guinea Pig...

with Robin,,

P1280505 (3).JPG without P1280501 (2).JPG

looking back across to the other side of where we just were a moment ago.
Not a terribly great shot, but, it's stitched and has two Stu's in it, one with a big wave as he could clearly see me waiting for the shot.

2 day st19.jpg

The snow is long gone the dust isn't. It was most everywhere, dry and a wee bit dusty, fortunately not too bad.
Stellar day for sure.

2 day st21.jpg

an old homestead site. note the tree on the left.

P1280539 (2).JPG

thinking we're a little past a good sweeping here, as the home has been engulfed by the trees.

P1280540 (2).JPG

Handheld with camera aiming backwards, and Floyd is dead center level in the frame. trained professional or s-house luck. obviously a trained pro. haha

P1280550 (3).JPG

rather evenly spaced out, and waiting our turn to cross the Mighty Fraser river.

P1280551 (4).JPG

our turn. Happily we're well downstream of the ferry Nazi that rules at Big Bar.

P1280557 (2).JPG

now that we're "all aboard!" there's plenty of time for some pics.
starting with seven.

2 day st28.jpg

perhaps a better version.

2 day st29.jpg

definetly not a better version,

P1280562_stitch.jpg

In Lytton at the gas station. Leftover relics from a movie shot here a number of years ago.

P1280573 (2).JPG

heading towards Botanie Valley.

P1280579_stitch (2).jpg

still evenly spaced, playing by the co19 rules. More s-house luck?

P1280584 (3).JPG

there's big guns here in the Fraser Canyon. And, if your x-ray vision is working correctly you'll easily see there's a 12 foot tall motorcycle right about the middle of Robins Yello bag.

P1280586 (2).JPG

Point and shoot digitals have their place where they are pretty darn good, distant scenery is not one of them. That mtn. looked stunningly white against the blue sky. (and I see Floyd is decaled as well)

2 day st33 (2).jpg

P1280620 (3).JPG

dropping down on Murray FSR. into Sp. Bridge before crossing to the east side of the Thompson River. The road on the other side can be seen along the upper edge of the grassy pasture where we will soon meet some cows..

P1280622 (2).JPG

With Hoodoos in the background, an out of order ( though the cows are now missing, DOH!) pic. where we took a break from the heat and used the nice cold creek to wash the dust of our faces. The boys are looking over the edge at a snake on a rock in the creek which there's a pic. of but, as I've posted 20 today it'll have to wait for another day. We continue along the thompson, over more sand than I recall?, then from the Ashcroft end we aim for Barnes lk, 6 mile, tobiano then the TCH to the Loops.
Looks like there'll be 1 more post and should be able to keep the pic. count under 20!

2 day st35 (3).jpg

thx fer lookin!

last post,, headed up the east side of the Thompson we came across a small group of calf's, unfortunately they immediately started to en masse run straight in the direction we were going, perhaps thinking we looked like we were having a better time than them and wanted to tag along. In any case we went full stop and let the farmer riding a quad usher them back into the pasture with the rest of the herd.

P1280627.JPG

2 day st36.jpg

Stu doing his best impression of the Fonz, aaaay!

P1280643 (3).JPG

the mid stream snake (garter?), which seemed to be simply crossing it? or looking for food? in any case it didn't seem stressed.

P1280644 (2).JPG

floyd haviing a chuckle at the lookey loos.

P1280648_stitch (3).jpg

as mentioned it seemed a little sandy'er than memory serves, but is a scenic fun ride in any case.

P1280631 (2).JPG

whoo hoo, last pic. (3) of these posts. Floyd taking in the view of which there's plenty.

2 day st38 (2).jpg

stay tuned as more rides for 2020 take place.
as always thx fer lookin!

Sounded like a sweet ride. Do you happen to have a more detailed description of the route? I’m in the Kamloops area and looking for a local overnight trip with a friend on primarily forest service roads.

Nice write up! thanks for sharing!
Smae as above, do you have a GPS track or a map screen shot of your route to get a good idea of your journey?
Cheers!
