Those are ok tires. If you will ride C loop - it's fine (unless it's extremely muddy), For B I think better to have something offroadish (if no jumps over wet logs), and A definitely knobby.

The Answer is NO Those tires are finished. If you have to ask if they will be OK, that will be your first clue that you better get some new skins on your ride. The one thing on your bike that can make or break your ride is your tires. Save the warn out tires for the pavement, second thought, dont save those warn out tires, too much is riding on them, you only got two.

how muddy is it going to get cause i only have my street gear (leather jacket) and street tires for my drz 400sm will i survive?

Okay, Okay I get it; I’ll do it when I get a new set next year…or maybe…later the same day :D…or…the weekend after when it is really dry :p. I just hope that JavaJude got my PM asking for the GPS tracks (C loop).

My question was more pointing to the C loop and its condition :confused:, so I could assess what kind of terrain I was going to face with my tires and make the decision to join you guys that day or not; a good answer would be like…

It is hard pack gravel with a few whole, so it will be fine if it is dry, it is a “NOOBIE” ride anyways…or…there is 100 meter section of mud, so maybe you will have to walk the bike or maybe…be careful with that river crossing you may end up in the water with those tires…or…those tires will be ok just half of the loop cause it gets muddier later…

Anyways, I guess I already have it answer (don’t I :rolleyes:), see you around.

I'm sorry you didn't get the answer you needed.

I've been the lead organizer of this ride since the beginning and should by now have come up with a response such as you described above. Tomcycle has a smart mouth & Lucky is a newbie so you have to watch their replies .

You have a very nice & shiny bike; I would hate / could not afford to drop it myself. Yes the Trailwings are probably worn-out / a poor choice in slippery conditions...

But, if you have patience & a sense of humour (and lower your tire pressures to 18), the 'C' loop really should offer you a fun day. The upside of this Sunday is that you'll have experienced riders to provide assistance as needed. I encourage you to join us.

This past Sunday, we experienced decent traction on the main EZ route, there were some loose / slippery rocks - but nothing that lasted more than 10-20 yards at a time. The wet leaves were slippery, and there were hundreds of puddles to weave around / through. Again - rain or shine - nothing to worry about if you're judicious with the throttle & brakes. As you can tell from the name of this event; we are catering to you and want you to enjoy yourself / come back next year.

Marks right Im a "smart mouth"

It was not that long ago that I too was a Noob, about 12 years ago now. Im in my 50s now and have been told many times that I expect to much from new riders. Thats probably true, Im not sure if I got that from my dad, or from the dirt bike riders that introduced me to the sport.

Its been a fun ride for all of us, come on out in the morning and have a coffee. It'll be fun

Hey guys:

I want to join this ride, and have a quick question about the Tamahi Staging area because I'm not too familiar with Wack. I don't use GPS and only have a lousy BCAA road map.

The question is: where is the Tamahi Staging area along Chilliwack Lake Road? Looking at a map, I'll be on the #1 slab eastbound, then south on Vedder, then east on Chilliwack Lake Road. How far along Chilliwack Road from there (time or distance)? Landmarks? Or will it be really obvious?

Much appreciated.

so would it do any serious damage to my street tires? and i was looking to buy some cheap dirt tires so i could do this all next year any suggestions?

Only you will be able to answer your question. Not sure how you could damage your DOT tires per se (flats are always a possibility, but you're prepared for that of course!)...

At least join us for coffee & breakfast to get a sense of what's planned. The C route starts on a gravel road and then continues 5+ miles along a rougher 4x4 road to asphalt in the village of Cultus Lake. You can turn back at any time or alternatively bail to asphalt at Cultus Lake.

You can go to www.BCORMA.ca and get the Platinum Pass, it will give you the insurance requirements to ride FSR's. Remember a portion of the trail pass money stays with the off road riding community, you can buy third party insurance form many other sorces but they will not support the sport

You will be able to see the staging area to your right once you go over the Tamahi bridge (this is the only bridge that you will cross on Chilliwack Lake Road).
