Re: deuce's class action thread
A friend of mine operates a car lot in Maple Ridge, specializing in vehicles brought up from the USA, mostly purchased at Dealer only Auto auctions, mainly in California, specifically in the LA area. This class action suit is for real and it's also against some of the Automotive companies.
He told me the other day that as far as he knows, Volvo have instructed their US dealers to refuse Canadians who want to buy a new Volvo. BMW charges the same $500 for a letter on one of their cars but it doesn't bother him much because apparently BMWs and Mercedes carsneed a lot of work to comply with Canadian law.
A few years ago, there was a waiting list for Fat Boys and Road Kings in the USA. People up here were buying them and then selling for a nice profit in the USA and that was when our dollar was around .65. Harley dealers here. were issued a form by Trev Deeley Imports that the buyer had to sign, stating that the buyer would not sell the bike within one year of purchase. I believe Ford did something similar with their bigger trucks, like F-350s etc. The legality of the form is highly doubtfull.
