If you remove the compliance label from your bike then this would apply from the bulletin"

Any vehicle originally manufactured as one of these types and subsequently modified then submitted for the purpose of inspection where the compliance label is missing, altered or illegible must also be rejected.

Once again this is not a new rule, it is clarification ofold.

Here's a good winter project....get a DRZ 400"s"frame off e bay for a couple hundred bucks with the none RUM compliance sticker on it.Than take off allmy DRZ 400"e"parts and put them on the "s"frame...and WOW..I have a legal bike again.absolute stupitlaws that we have to live with,but it's legal..I love government.:mad3:

What we should do is all kick in a few hundred dollars and as a group hire a lawyer to represent us ....and at the very least tie this up in court for awhile .....then start talking to the newspapers radio and all around just be a pain in ICBC ass ...this is a slippery slope because in reality what they are doing is rewriting the motor vehicle act ...wich is fine if this only applies to bikes going thruogh a new inspection...but the bikes that already passed a government inspection should be grandfathered in like old cars are ..because if they change this law and go back and pull regis ...they will have to do it on classic cars which wont meet the current inspection standars as well (no seat belts side marker lights etc. etc.)...older motorcycles which wont meet noise or emission specs ...so on and so on.....im getting a little pissed and worried because ive heard they have started to investigate shops that have done the conversions and compliling names of people with the converted bikes and such so its only going to be a matter of time before they start yanking registration numbers ...If anyone is interested in this I think we need to get organized and at the very least not take it lying down ...if they want to do this to a small and in my opinion responsible group of people I think we should at least let them know we arent just going to take it :mad3:

I"M BACK! good time to jump back in.i'm all for doing something as well! tattz,that's a very good idea,to get a lawyer to represent us. some one must know a lawyer that would take this up for us?? i don't mind being treated equal to everyone else,but i get my back up, when it appears that we are being singled out as a soft target,

I did the most constructive thing I could think of, I joined the BC Coalition of Motorcyclists http://www.bccom-bc.com/. May not work, but beats bitching in a forum.

Vancouver SuperMoto is working with a lawyer and BCCOM to try to straighten this out. They're also trying to get all licenced inspectors on the same page for a united front. http://www.bcsportbikes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=115158

I will call my Bussiness lawyer on monday and see what he thinks...if everyone is in on the idea ill get him to set up a trust and we can all pitch in whatever we can afford ...this issue is a very important one to me...because I own a bussiness that builds custom cars that push the limits and if they can outlaw us customizing our bikes ..it is only going to be a matter of time before custom cars and the lot will be under scrutny as well ..... I definatly feel that this a witch hunt ...and a way for the powers to be to push the very people around that pay there salaries...

i'm joining the bc coalition of motorcyclists as well. i'm also in with hireing a lawyer to help us. on a curiosity note- i'm going to do some digging at the motor vehicles office and find out what the rules are for building a ubilt m/c.
If a chopper builder can start with a BARE frame,and get a bc assigned serial # (i'm assuming this is how it works) and then add parts of his choosing to ultimately end up with a street legal MOTORCYCLE ,i see no reason why any one of us couldn't do the same. i don't think they have pictures or criteria of what a motorcycle is or is not supposed to "look" like. two wheels,suspension,motor, and all of the compliant pieces to make it street legal should be enough. Hey-I think I see a winter project coming up. I'll report back on my findings at the MV office asap.

There are a lot of us that have RUM registered bikes and we had better get organised before it is too late:(

I would suggest whomever want to take on this challenge to start with

BCCOM see if there is much interest in helping us out, next would be the

Good lawyer who knows the Motor Vehicle Act

I am not sure how many of you out there have these kind of bikes but I bet it will be in the thousands, only problem only a few of us will put up the money that will be required to protect our rights, now how much moneyis each of us willing to put up to keep ourbikes legal?:ted:

ps as a bit of a side note: i went to the icbc licensing office to inquire about rules and paperwork on possibly building a ubilt m/c over the winter. they sent me to the transportation office,they sent me to service b.c.,they sent me to a big autoplan agent,they sent me to a mechanic mv inspector .! so i'll try again today,as a set of rules must exist as to what is allowed to be a ubilt m/c that is legal to ride on the roads of b.c. this may be barking up the wrong tree-but hey i like barkin'

Why not walk into a custom shop and ask how they do it? Isn't there a guy down there too that built that cruiser with a couple cylinders from a Rolls Merlin engine? How the heck did he manage? Doesn't get more ubuild than that.

Well I think we should get organized on this if we truly want to fight it ...I am willing to put in some cash ....how many others are as well...this prolly wont be cheap to do ...if people want to do something about this I have no issue in trying to head something up ...I just want to know If I am going to get some support on it...

With a game plan in place, I too would be willing to add 250 bucks to keep my ride.

We have to get to know tattz's plan, then let run with it. I have lots of contacts but not so much time these days, I will help where I can.

If we get an action plan together I can send out a mass email.

Why not support the pro bono work being done by BCCOM lawyers? They are already on this and it would seem our efforts might be duplicating their efforts.

We (by we I mean off road riders) use to have a representative on the BCCOM but I have heard and seen nothing from whom ever that was. Dave Lock was the last name I remember.

I have not heard anything from the BCCOM. Does anyone here have contact with the BCCOM? I would hate to think that we would be pinning our hopes on a group that does not even know we have a problem.:(

otg seeing you seem to have some information that BCCOM is on this, maybe you could see what they are doing and what they need from us.

I think that maybe the best plan to get things going is we chould try and get a meeting togethor and brainstorm some ideas maybe this weekend we can get a group togethor grab some food and talk about a few ideas ...also if someone can get me some info on who I should be talking to at bccom I would have no issues in working with them on this ....And if no one here objects Id be willing to be the spokesperson with them on this subject...we definatly need some represantation with them ...We also need to start writing letters to the MLAs in our areas ....as well as a mass letter writing campaign to ICBC ...I will talk to my contact at ICBC and see if he has any sugestions as well ....and if anyone here is willing to offer any help or suggestions id welcome any of them ....Ill go the bccom route before I set up a bank account and all that I will give them the first shot .....if anyone has anything else to add you can p.m me here or send it to my shops email address [email protected]
