Hi Tom -

I have mine mounted up to the TE510 and it performs VERY well. Prior to install I was having the dealer service the FI via ibeat, they did fine but at $130 each time it was kind of silly. I also like that I can adjust it on the fly. Put mine tucked on the right side of the number plate, that way its protected but easily accessible. The lights flash on it when the bike is running, if it was right in front of me on the cross bar that would get annoying.

I thought a lot about the 310 too, but I commute lots on the 510 and the 310 has a narrower range trans than the bigger bike. 510 only really makes sense for commute if I switch wheelsets, I go from 13/47 to 14 / 44 in a quick swap.

Cheers

You know Tom the fuel injection is dealer-serviceable using the iBeat software. On our race bikes we had to make fairly large adjustments to the fueling, especially at lower throttle positions before the bikes ran well. It may be worth a dyno run and adjustment to get the baseline good then use the JD piece for user-tuning.

Now that I know that the solution is so easy, I would like to bring the bike to a good shop with a dyno.......... Only problem I dont know of any

I read lots about the iBeat but that was way over my head, I just want to ride.:f:

Any suggestions of someone or shop with the knowledge of the software and has a dyno?

i would guess tasky's in everett?

but sounds like the jd kit already resolved your concerns. I wouldn't waste the money unless you were really curious.

I would say I second that. You can use a dyno with a sniffer to really get the AF nice and flat but you can also use your seat of pants and the controller just like jetting but so much easier.

Husqvarna TE 310 1600 km Update

Husqvarna TE 310 1600 km Update

Its May 31 2011 and the Husky has been running me down for over 1600 kms:f:
Problems to date (hardly problems just things I thought could be better)
Harsh Throttle Response
Solution: JD Jetting Power Surge 6X www.jdjetting.com/

Oil Drain Plug, it has a breather hose attached to it, it has to be removed to clean the strainer.
Solution: None yet, its a pain to do if the engine is not clean. I did notice that the TE250 does not have the breather attached to the drain plug and will find out if I can do the same thing

Licence Plate Mount, its hangs low like all street legal bikes
Solution: I removed the stock mount with reflectors and mounted the plate on a peice of rubber material, its lasted two months and thats longer than any other solution I have come up with for any of my bikes, so Im going to stick with it

I am now riding with 15-47 gearing and find it good on the single track and I can still ride comfortably at about 80 kph. I still have the suspension set at 0 and find it plush, however with the gentle throttle I notice that the rear suspension/spring is too soft and its time to start looking for a spring. I have been using Maxima Ultra Synthetic Oil and changing every 10 hours of use (900ml in and 900ml comes out after 10 hours)

The build quality of the Husqvarna is second to none. I have found the bike easy to work on and with the manuals available on line I can get the information I need at any time. the Husky Cafe site is full of good information too http://www.cafehusky.com/

I am now working on the Routledge Run which is more for the 650 size of DS bike so the 310 will be putting a lot more long distance FSR rides over the next few weeks.

So far the TE310 is better than what I was expecting (this coming from a guy whos last ride was a 10 year old KLX300) but just maybe my expectations are not high enough:tup:

Hey, I picked up an '11 TE310 myself a month back, loving it so far. I opted for the warranty rather than the extra power, so mine is still stock. I'm a mediocre novice trail rider at best (old and experienced, but still mediocre and novice :) and so far I haven't found it to be at all limiting, so I plan to keep it that way for a bit until I find I really need the extra kick.

But I have noticed the bike is brutal at idling, though it seems to be getting better the more km I put on it (about 500km so far). Any opinions on whether the FI kit you mention would actually do anything for an otherwise stock engine or is it only useful after power-up? I'd love to get the snap right from idle that I was used to on my old RMZ, rather than constantly being on the edge of stalling when inching through tight stuff. Anybody opinions if the jd kit would affect the warranty as well?

One other question, I also noticed the back rubber seemed awfully meaty when standing next to the RMZ, you said you went to a 110 -- does that fit on the stock rim or do you need a new back wheel? I assumed the wider tire was for better wear on the pavement, any guesses on what kind of mileage you'll get out of a 110? Any suggestions for a good performance tire? My intention is to ride almost entirely on dirt, but do expect to ride up to Boston Bar and Coq Lakes from time to time and don't really want to replace a tire every trip.

Thanks!
KF

Your in Burnaby, you are more than welcome to take my bike out for a spin to see how the JD kit works
I would think that it would work without the power up option, then you could keep your warranty. I would contact
http://www.jdjetting.com/ and ask what their recomendations are. I did uninstall the Power Up configuration and did not find that much difference on the trails, there was definatly more power but when your trail riding its not that noticable, at least for me. But now it fun all the time, I do run the Map II when on the FSRs. The JD kit eliminates the rough Idle and Flame Out when in the tight stuff. Im 240 lbs dry, running 15/47 and the bike virtually can idle me thru the trails with the clutch fully engaged.

Warranty............I would think any changes you make to your engine systems would officially end your warranty:( I would recommend when taking you bike in for warranty to remove any aftermarket items that could be remotely associated with items covered by the warranty, that would include after market air and oil filters

Tires.....Tires.....Tires
Wow that a tough question and I only have the answer that works for me. I dont know what Husky was thinking when they put a 140 on the TE310? I usually run Mitas Tires available from www.mx1canada.com for a couple of reasons. I really like the tires, the price is reasonable, I know Colin, they are a sponsor of this site. So I see this as a win win all the way around.
On the TE310 I am running the Mitas C-16 72.95 retail, Its DOT:shock:, It looks like a knobbie, Its got that cool red strip, Its always in stock. Right now I have about 1000kms of mixed use off road and about 100 kms of pavement, tread is still looking good and ask anyone I ride with, I get to the top of every hill and make it to the far side of any mud hole:mad3: I would like to think its my riding skill but the tires play a big part.

Mitas C-16 with about 1000 kms Sunday June 12 2011

Do you plan of riding from home or trailering you bike part way? I dont think this would be the right tire for extended pavement use.

TE310 2500 Km Update June 12 2011

TE310 2500 Km Update June 12 2011

TE310 2500 Km Update June 12 2011 70 Hours

Nothing new to report, at this rate I will stop posting seeing nothing is falling off the bike

Engine sounds good, doesnt burn oil between changes, I do an oil change every 10 hours and Filter change every 20 hours. Using Maxima Ultra 5W40 Full Synthetic

Frame and Skid Plate, hardly any scrapes, the bike does not bottom out or get stuck between the rock

Plastics, looking a little rough but the chain guard is still good and the seat has no tears, lots of narrow trails and the odd get off, OK OK hardly a ride goes by where I dont go over the handle bars

Tires and Rims, still riding with the stock front tire, still riding with the Mitas C 16 which looks like it will last untill the end of the Routlege Run. Rims have not dents but the spokes have loosened off so I will have to tighten them

Still no sign of a large Fuel Tank but I am getting about 140 kms to a tank This week we road from Carolin Mines to Princeton (all off road and some single track) used 6.4 litres

Pictures dont show how scratched the plastic is, but none of it is broken:clap:

That's doesn't look like the stock skidplate any more, but I don't see anything in your earlier posts about replacing it. Where did you get that one? Definitely on my must-have list.

Thanks for the rest of the advice, I'll definitely look into it! I ride door to door when possible but don't object to trailering the bike if there will be a lot of pavement involved. I expect up to about 2 hours I'd just ride, beyond that it will go into the truck.

Cheers!

(spot the embarrassed noob...)

Sorry guys, I google "husky northwest" and get fixed-wing single engine airplane sales (on sale for only $280k LOL)

But it sorta looks like Husky NorthWest is the same as Tasky's down in Washington, is that correct? And if so, do they ship to Canada? Couldn't tell from the Tasky's website, but it didn't seem like an online shopping site.

Thanks for your patience with the annoying questions ;)

Thanks

Husky NW is a site sponsor & affiliated with Tasky's. [email protected] Ships internationally
Mike will be racing this weekend at the Piston Run @ Chipmunk Creek, so you could maybe save the shipping by meeting with him there...

Thanks Mike, I gotta get on this soon!

Incidentally, for anybody looking for a full shop manual, I just stumbled across this link...

http://www.filedropper.com/tc-txc-te250-310en18-01-2011

Took a few tries to download, but eventually I got the complete (366 page) pdf. This is specifically for the 2011, first manual I've found (out of at least 4 I've been pointed to) that correctly shows the TE310 oil drain plug with the hose attached, so I believe this really is the "real" manual for this bike.

And for the record, I would happily have paid for this if my dealer would have been able to provide it, but after multiple queries I was unable to find a legit source, so off to the internet...

Cheers!

4000 KM 100 Hour Update

4000 KM 100 Hour Update

July 9 2011

Its been 100 hours or 4000 kms since I first started the Husky TE 310:f:

Along with the minor problems that I have posted, and they are minor as I dont even remember what they were:))):

The Husky has been running flawless, does not burn any oil between changes and the screen is always clean, so is the oil filter. I tried to do the oil changes every 10 hours but it is more like every 15-20 just the way the rides work out

So lets look at some of the latest issues with the bike

This was brought up before about the licence plate holder, well my quick sollution with a piece of mudflap is still working, it actually is the best licence plate holder I have had on any bike. The brake light is stuck on, going to look into this today, probably a shorted wire. The Mitas tire is pretty much done but has held together really well

Here is a sorry site
Look at this, no gas cap, I told the dealer that the design allowed me to loose this, they didnt buy that story, but they allowed me to purchase (order) another one and in the meantime I could use one off a new bike, Thanks Pacific Motosports:tup:
Then there is the handguards, Acerbis both mounts broke, I dont think MX1canada.com will warranty them:( they know how I ride, or rather fall off the bike. They will sell me just the mount so that not so hard on the wallet.
JD Powersurge working great, in fact I tried remapping in the mountains and it worked great there too
The good news is all the other little knobs and swithes are working well

Nothing wrong on this side

The business side of the Husky

Look at this little beauty
Stihl Handsaw, Nice Huh?
This has cut a lot of face slapper and logs on the trail, so much its missing some teeth and has a broken tip. This bad boy will get you thru any windfall or old trail and having it strapped on the side you dont even know its there until you need it. Retail at Langley Husqvarna Stihl shop $56.00

At this point this has been the bike that can do what I need it to do. Take my fat ass up the steepest and tightest trails and do a big multiday dualsport ride (1600 kms) What more could I ask?
