I guess you should have posted up or come over to talk to the whole bunch of us.

Yes, good point, next time for sure! I only started reading the thread the night before so I figured it was too late to post that i would be meeting you guys.

Thanks for asking MtB,

Yes we made it back to the Esso in Squamish for gas with only the XT 250 just going into reserve. What a great ride! We did 380km - North Van and back.

I checked our fuel usage from Chevron back to Chevron = 225km:
2008 KLR 650 - 9 litres (= 4 litres/100km)
2000 Yamaha XT 350 - 8 litres (= 3.6 litres/100km)
2008 Yamaha XT 250 - 7.75 litres (= 3.5 litres/100km)

All pretty good.

Good to meet all of you and thanks for the photos posted. I have more of the same and will load them soon.

Looks like you guys had a good ride. I've been out of action for a couple of months due to a back injury, but it seems to have more or less healed so I am keen to start riding again. I can ride just about any time, as long as the trail is not too gnarly.

Elaho part III "The First Bridge and Beyond" will premier this Friday. Forecast is for no rain no dust. Meet up 8:30 at St David's church (Taylor way & Uper levels in N Van). Big bike friendly, if you have a small tank bring a siphon hose, all welcome.

Absolutely brilliant ride. This was much better than the previous 2 treks to the Elaho. Less mind numbing gravel and much more forestry single track with spectacular glacier views. The company was great as always. Will have to go back ASAP.

Sorry I couldn't make it out! I mentioned last ride that I was going away and I was away a bit longer than i'd expected - didn't make it back until a few hours ago.

I'm glad to hear you had an awesome ride, but disappointed i wasn't tagging along. How much tighter was it? Big bikes enjoyed it without too much trouble? I'm certainly itching to do this now before the snow sets in up there. Weather is going south again, and quick, so we better get up there ASAP! Anyone want to tag along with me this weekend or the next? Back in school now so no more weekday rides unfortunetly.

Post in here or shoot me a PM, I'll probably scout out the route you took sometime this week but I dont have the time before sunset to do the full ride during the week. Any photo's or more detailed write-ups of this trip?

It was much tighter than the last ride, though still big bike friendly. There were a few challenging spots, and the trail was a bit overgrown in places. A fit rider could probably manage the whole ride in about 3 hrs. We did a bit of exploring with a few dead ends and I had to stop quite a few times along the way because of the pain, ended up riding behind Britania mine for part of the time as one of the riders had to turn back early.
Same as the last ride, but cross the first bridge (Squamish river?) we passed and head West along the main road (10kmish?). Turn right over another bridge (tributary of Squamish river) and continue North West, you'll pass a hydro dam on your left.
Unfortunately I can't do weekends, but I'm sure someone on here can.
Oliver you mentioned that you can ride to Woodfiber from Squamish. Do you have the dirrections?

Thanks for the directions, that'll make things easier when I try and find this later this week. Too bad you can't do weekends, and most of us probably cant do weekdays anymore. I'm sure we'll find a day that works eventually...

I did mention to you that I heard of a route from Squamish to Woodfiber, but I also mentioned I have no idea where it starts or even any vague directions to it. Its mostly just what i've heard from other locals at the gas station or staging zone for dirtbike rides, never heard it from anyone really reputable, but i'm sure their must be a route somehow. I do know there is a way up from the sunshine coast, and thats a reliable fact, but have never made the trip out to ride it myself. If you use google maps you can see part of it, but most isn't shown and you'll need to use the provincial governments map database (IMap BC) to see the complete road. The program breaks it down to different levels of repair and age, so its fairly easy to distinguish which roads are most likely to be in terrible condition.

Make sure you let us know if you go and try that ride, it looks awesome and i've love to tag along. I'm sure you'll find others to go explore the spooky old industrial buildings with you!

Not likely. School gets in the way of anything between 8am and 3:45pm, but if you schedule your ride to be heading north through Squamish around 3:45 then I would love to tag along! On Friday i'm good to go (Ride home, put on proper boots + strap gear on the rack, then meet you at the chevron) at 1:40ish. Weekends are free, or will be made free, for a ride as i said before, but you're not available then.

I'll be doing a bit of adventure riding along the sunshine coast and then down Vancouver island to Victoria on thanksgiving if you're interested. Leaving Friday the 8th to catch the 3:50 ferry to the sunshine coast, and I would be having thanksgiving dinner with my family on the island, and you could catch the ferry from Victoria Sunday morning and be back to your family with time to spare. Definitely GS friendly as the Dr. will be sporting panniers, but still 'fun' riding!

I have a few more weekend trips planned before the snow sets in (and a few more after that) that i'd mention, but as you said before: you're busy on weekends. Until we have some days off, or you get a few weekends off, I dont think we'll get many chances to ride together until next season.

Hey Oliver. This timing kind of sucks, I`m back to work part time, and the days are getting short, though my weekends may free up in November. And even after all this effort to ride as much as I can, I am no closer to my previous level of ability.

It looks like there is another ride shaping up for next Thursday (Sept 30). We are heading to Squamish, weather is supposed to be good, so how about
St Davids at 8:30AM ?
Everyone welcome. Or check out the above pics of what you may be missing!

What time will the late comers (me) meet up with the rest of the group? I'm off at 3:30 in Squamish... You know the travel times to where you'd be riding.

As usual, I'll ride until sundown rain or shine.
