I'll give them a call.

I was down there today actually checkin price of the 08's. Little out of my budget. I have been looking at on 07 TE with around 6500km on it and few add on's... set of moto wheels etc for$6500 + bothtaxes (its at a dealer). Other option is an 06 SM private sale believe it or not only 17km. Yes 17! He's asking $6000. But I wasn't too sure about the $$$ to truly make it a dual.

ANy thoughts?

this is my bike with chen shing [sp] tires on it, they are dot approved. i found the bike quite capable of dualsporting in this set up. the only thing i found was that the sm suspension set up is not as ''plush'' as a true dualsport suspension. it is more designed for street/cornering.

be careful also with your rims, those pretty sm rims are not as tough as a true dirt rim. installing a larger, true dirt rim on the front and rear will bottom out at times and rub on the fenders.

one very important thing to remember is that the front brake is super sensitive on loose terrain. you will be on your a** in a heartbeat if you are not gentle on the front brake. i know this from personal exp:hr:

the sm gearing will be fine as the bike has a 6 speed tranny, where the first gear is really low, and 6th is nice and tall for highway use.

the cost for this set up, was $120 for the tires. Bill at 5th Gear can set you up, he is well versed in dirt/ sm/ dualsport craziness.

why didnt you just get the TE 610???????? i would get a TE front/back wheel with a separate master cyl and the proper sized dirt disc and swap out the whole thingif i was gonna go off roading....i was gonna do theSM thing to my 510 but with the road conditions around here[too much traffic ,crappy roads] ill stick to knobbie tires as imDONE with street riding now..its amazing how you can crank this bike thru the turnswith a knobbie- but i guess a sticky street tiremust be wicked !!!!
