Hello,

I am looking for people to ride the B loop with (I have not done it before) but I don't want to slow anyone down. Anyone into a more leisurely pace?

I wouldnt worry about holding people up, just tag along with a group, half the fun is getting everyone through the obsticals... Wouldnt be nearly as many memories or laughs if everyone just rode through without issue.

We have heard from many that can't decide which route to ride.

A is gnarly single track for highly skilled riders.

B is for the intermediate experienced rider looking for a challenge.

C is for the big bikes, new riders, or anyonepreferring a scenic relaxed backroad tour with a mix of paved and gravel roads.

So anyone else taking Friday off?

Last year a bunch of us took the scenic rout posted by some one from the island. It was a great ride and I wish to do it again. There was a perfect lunch stop along the way at a family restaurant midway there. Took a little longer but less traffic and lots of back roads wandering through the countryside. Might as well make the most of it on Friday I say.

Going to see if I can dig up that old post again, feel free to post us your favorite back road rout to the destination.

If anyone else is interested we should make some meeting point that works for those coming from different parts of town. I'll take any suggestions.

First lets decide on which ferry do you want to catch and go from there.

Cheers,

Bren

(from Submann 2008)

Directions:

Come off of ferry, get in right lane.
Take first exit right onto Wain Rd.
Stop sign - turn left onto West Saanich Rd.
Drive into Brentwood to traffic light (sorry) and turn right onto Wallace drive.
Turn right onto Willis Pt. Rd.
Turn Left onto Ross Durance Rd.
It becomes Millstream Lake Rd.
Stop sign - Turn right (still Millstream Lake Rd.)
Stop sign - Turn left onto Millstream Rd.
Turn right onto Finlayson Arm Rd.
Use caution, super twisty and the road surface degrades with steep downhill switchbacks
You pop out in Goldstream Park
Stop sign - Turn right onto Trans Canada highway
Turn Left onto Shawnigan Lake Rd.
At bottom of hill turn left onto West Shawnigan Lake Rd.
Turn left onto Renfrew Rd.
Keep right toward Koksilah Park.
Road turns to gravel
Arrive at Campsite on right

I didn't put distances on here as that would take ALL the fun out of it. Hopefully we can post the GPS files for download.

Sorry but I did route it past one traffic light. We only turn right there so it's just a glancing blow.

Buck,

Thanks for route information. You mentioned that the C route is 300km in total. How far is it between gas stops?

The longest stretch between gas stops is about 85km. Today was extremely busy... we had to reroute parts of the C loop due to logging companies recently closing roads. Arrrgh!:mad3:

Anyone with trail riding experience on a smaller, lighterbike should try the B loop. The C loop is a long road ridebetter suited tolarger bikes.

Back again. Sorry for hijacking the thread but I need to know how to get the GPX file onto my Zumo. Dropped it into Mapsource but they are all .img files.

Hi Bogdan!

Want to catch the same ferry as Tom and the rest of the gang?
They are going to catch the 11am if I am not mistaken.
Where is a good place to meet you guys?
I was thinking about taking the lower River Road through delta, if traffic is not too bad.
Which way do you want to take?

Bren

PS - Going to find out from franhoser what time he plans to leave.

I'm planning on heading out Friday after lunch sometime, take the Tsawwassenferry to Sidney and then take the Mill Bay ferry. Anyobody else planning the same thing let me know and we can meet up somewhere in Surrey or Tsawwassen.

We ride dualsports so we can RIDE... Why spend all that time and moneyon two ferries?

Take afun, scenic twisty route from Sidney to the campground! Directions are up in this thread...

Thanks Kiwi,

I'm planning on taking the 1pm ferry and taking the direct route via Mill Bay Ferry. I don't have time to go earlier (havefew things to do in the morning)and I don't really want to ride around twistie roads with my knobies. I would even consider a later ferry if someone is intrested in that. I think the 3pm ferry is the latest we can take to catch the last Mill Bay Ferry.

Tibarus, others are taking an earlier ferry and the scenic ride if you're intrested, see:
