SO who wants to do the DOG mine this weekend Saturday or Sunday should be fine by me.

Or anything else at all...anything.

Me and the Kermodi got out tonight and tried for Trapper to be turned back by some Ahole logging up there who put a GATE up. What an, well I already mentioned that. The road out to 22k was pretty freshly graded and looser than a...ahh nothing.

Kermodi said I thought it was just me, I said no way that stuff is SKETCHY.

Anyhow we turned back and flew up copper and only took a few pick's the riding was so fun...so who wants to go this weekend?

Anyhow here they are in, my mind, the worst to the best. I know they are all about the same but the last looks pretty good for an amateur photo shooter, and considering I nearly had to BEG Michael to go back up and let me take his picture. I tell ya the things I have to do around here!












Couldn't work the last two for some reason, but the links are there and working and in the right order. Al the pics are actually pretty cool in bigger format. Was it worth it now Kermodi??

I don't think I'll get out for the next two days. I'm with Munchkin today, chores and tomorrow is Tire and prep day for the 2 weekend Lake trips and Telkwa Pass. I might get out Sunday for tire break in or just save my arse for the long hauls.

From my experience the more you ride the harder your but gets, so let's ride Sunday.

Hey Robbo, there was quite a bit of snow at the top of copper last night and I seem to remember proudman saying his gos readings were about the same height when we did the Telkwa, I don't know how much sun exposure it gets up there.

Maybe I'll take a scouting trip there in the near future and let you know. Any takers?

Alright so none of you guys wanted to do anything today, and I guess since I am on US holiday hours to a degree I was about the only one off.

Before Robbo and I came to blows over the Telkwa debate I figured I may as well scout it today so here goes.

Actually I recommend a beer...and definitely a seat for the finish of this one. I don't want any of you guys falling down fainting and getting hurt or anything.

Three I headed out and hit the same crappy newly graded road me and Kermodei hit yesterday. I am getting used to it and by the time I came home was flying and did much better time than the way there.

Can't satay around here too long. These areas are receptacles of destruction from far above.

She looks good at every angle....at least if the scenery behind her is good, and it was today.

Just, and I mean just under an hour and a half to the top lake. Top right is the timer I set at the turnoff onto the copper river road. Bottom left is km so far, but that's from the last station in town and a couple extra side jaunts maybe 10k or so.

Now That's what I am talking about. A few slide of snow across the road to get over but not a huge issue although one I did have to walk the bike through, but a pig, sorry I mean KLR could do it easy too.

This is my second favorite photo. Words can't describe it. Once you get here the hard part is done and you are getting close to the logging road that leads to the mandatory Telkwa pub. I figured this was good enough to prove the pass is open for business and I think we MUST push up our dates because really who wants to do it in the fall when the weather is so bad?

Anyhow onto some more photos to temp you all to do this ride soon.

Glaciers are close at hand when you live up here.

You can see the road. Greg knows it more intimately than anyone I know since he kissed it literally, although it was through his helmet. I actually touched the lake and it was not bad. HMMM should I go for a swim?

Nah. I didn't bring my bathing suit. Who do you think I am the naked fin for crying out loud? I'll just take some more pictures to tease the boys and head back home. Which I did round trip in just over three hours to my surprise and amazement.

Hope you enjoyed even a smidgeon as much as I did but I doubt it. Let's go....butt bring our bathing suits and leave our birthday suits at home next time.

Awesome pics and report. Must have been truly an epic day. I say that cause I've never seen you get your photos up that fast. Too bad I didn't get out, now I feel as if I should have abandoned the child with Grandma and went for a ride. Kidding, of course. Good to see more of your Go For It! I busted a gut on the last pic- PRICELESS!! Lucky I wasn't there, you'd have to ride back Nekkid.

Nice ride report and photos - except for the last one!!! I won't have time to try that route until I return from vacation in August. Looking forward to it! Might even bring SWIM TRUNKS!

Hey Northie. Too bad we missed ya. Sorry. I had some chores to do and then it was a last-minute decision to go. We took a quick trip up to Sleeping Beauty - to the lookout where the trail ends / Prov. park boundary. Then we went out to Lakelse lake via Queensway to Beam Station Road. We were hoping to run into some friends who were out there catching some sun ... which turned into yuk! Good thing we weren't out for the sun. We then took the dirt road across to Hwy 37 and back to town. I'm guessing that's when we met you. Didn't see ya.

Had to go to Smithers for work today and didn't get back till late. I'll post a few pics tomorrow. No, there aren't any shots of anyone falling over or lifting a bike over a log. Just a few scenery shots at the top.

It has been suggested on numerous occasions, that without posting or picking a date the ride will never happen! In an effort to do my part, I'm giving advance notice as best as possible. Of course not everyones schedule has openings or can be accomodated, but prior notice might just make it happen.

As previously posted, for the next two weekends Fraser Lake will be my destination of choice. Depending on who commits or not, I will make the time to do the Telkwa pass (It will more than likely be Sunday from the Telkwa side on July 19th). As for areas like Francois and Lakes in the vicinity of Fraser Lake, my cabin can be used as a home base. No camping gear is required, just bevies and food, bike and associated essentials for exploring. The dates posted are rain or shine events, as will be future ride invites, it is too difficult to schedule around "maybe's".

As for Friday, nobody is positively confirmed as of yet. I will leave 7:00 AM. If you wish to drop by for a bevy or overnighter, Email me at [email protected], and I can get directions to you.

I know you don't expect "nil replies", but here's my excuse:I'm working this weekend. Next weekend I'll be looking for day trips (nearby) - nothing too far or overnight 'cause I've got some parental responsibilities here while my wife is away with my son for sports. I won't plan anything but I'll be looking to tag along if somebody else is going. The last 2 times I planned something it flopped. I tried to get to Exstew twice. The first time we were denied because of flooding. :X The second time the gate was locked at the first bridge AND there were 2 concrete "no posts" on the bridge!! :mad3: Anyway, it'll be a while before I try that one again!

About what time would you guys be going through? I'm interested but I was thinking of a second attempt on Nadina Mountain on Sunday fairly early in the morning.

Not sure, I am trying to get hold of him. I read it wrong he wants to do it next weekend, so I am pushing for doing it two weekends in a row, definitely this since the weather looks nice. I'll keep you posted.

There's one approach that I've done and know works for sure and another that I've heard about but haven't tried. This little site has a google earth aerial of the mountain just to the right of the waypoint marked on there.

Basically you follow the Morice River Road to about 39km and turn off at Owen Lake. There will be signs to the Nadina Wilderness Lodge. There's a trail right off their property that takes you up the mountain. I managed to shave 3 miles each way off the walk by riding in with the bike but it was a tough go for some of it. The trail itself is marked quite well.

The other way would be to follow the same road but not take the turn off to the Wilderness Lodge. The road ends at a cut that goes near the base of the mountain. It was fairly grown in. There might be a trail. I didn't look for very long as I didn't like the idea of being in thick brush by myself with all the bears in that area.

That same road can take you to Rhine Ridge.
