:ted:Never pass gas.... The KLR tankers should make it but you never know what may happen so I'll gas up in Aiyansh

Terrace - Aiyansh ~100km / Cranberry ~50km / Kitsault 150km return (???) / Cranberry-Kitwanga ~80km....total about 380km

PLAN: Leave Kitimat around 8:00 - Sparklr, I'll come to your place unless you say otherwise. Then to A&W Terrace to meet the rest.

I'll be ready at 8:00, just lubing the chain and pulled the air filter, those few dusty moments we had made quite the mess of the airhole.

Sorry, had to work this weekend. It is almost 9:30 pm and I haven't seen any sign of the group returning yet. I hope it went well. Spent some time at the hospital today with the 14-yr-old son who got a bit banged up on his mountain bike buthaven't seen any of the KLR'ers in there, so I guess it is a good sign! Can't wait to hear about the trip & see photos!

Hey Chuck sorry to hear about your son, hopefully it will be one of those learning experience that hurt just enough to remind him what not to do next time, and has no lasting effects on him, and that he has a quick recovery. (What does'nt kill us makes us stronger...) or so I have been told all these years. But as a fairly new parent I find sometimes it hurts us more then the kids even though they are the one that are physically getting hurt.

As for the KLR adventurers, I did not hear SparKRL or Kitimat KLR pull into the street last night so either it was a very late night or they snuck in the back way into the street.

P.S. even though I did'nt particapate in yesterdays ride I feel as if I was there... I was working in my front yard on my daughters playhouse/play ground that I am building and looked up just in time to see my bike get blown over by a large gust of wind....enough time to see it happen and let fly a few F-Bombs. I have to say man am I glad I had my Crash Bars on, they sure did pay for themselves.

Twas a beautifuel day for a ride. First rest stop was here at Lava Lake. A small lake with a picnic site only, sandy beach great for swimming. Just around the corner is the entrance to the Lava Fields. The ride to this point is paved and twisty roads.

A pic from last year, entrance to Canyon City on the Nass River, showing only partial covering of the Lava flow. The flow area is immense and had rerouted the river, a have to see it for yourself thing.

This bridge is in Canyon City, the fishwheels can be seen from the entrance bridge into here. Also last year pic.

At the campground entrance, you'll find this Info/ Interpretive Centre. Full of historical details and pics.

Next rest stop was this bridge on the Kitsault FSR.

Free shoes??

Frozen lake, one of many.

Andrew was right, there was snow. But apparently the DS Gods were there just ahead of us and parted the way. Phew!!

Someone tried to deter our entrance.

We respected that wish and left the gate untouched, which I was punished for later. Apparently law abiding citizens don't even know how to open unlocked gates.

Kitsault is not open to the public, as we soon found out and were asked to leave. Camping will be made available in a months time. Should you go camping there, bring a canoe or kayak, the Alice Arm is majestic. The road was mint all the way, and wouldn't hesitate to trudge up with a passenger vehicle. Be warned all visitors need to pre-authorize their visit with the Kitsault office. Anyone who wnats to journey there can PM for the office number.

It was amazingly warm at Kitsault. I would classify the trip an EE (Excellent and Easy) and highly recommend it. Just remember to phone ahead.

Hey Mica you told us to run ahead you little :censored: Anyhow great vid and photos fellas. It was an epic ride with a great crew great weather and luck was mostly certainly on our side even when things took a tumble for the worse.

Wed evening we are thinking a boot would be nice. Me and Michael got the bruised bike last night, so tonight we can get some yard work done tonight in hopes of a permission slip for tomorrow night. Anyone wanna meet at onion lake and goof around there for a while? Or anything else really. I'm easy as long as I am rolling.

Summit of the Kitsault trip was about 2,800 feet.

To put it in perspective, the peak of Copper Mountain is 3,300 feet, just 500 more feet.

What a high .

I'd come out n play tomorrow night, only problem is I probably can't make it out til 8:00 due to work, which is probably too late for you guys. If I was lucky enough to be training, I might possibly be able to pull off a 7:30 start. Let me know what your time plan is like, if it is too late don't worry about it.

That's a bit late but I'll see what Kermodei is thinking. Going somewhere that's for sure. Although it's almost TOO HOT to ride!!

Checked out copper flats while the youngest was at piano last night. So much fun driving through them big puddles!!

Excellent photos & write-up on the Kitsault trip! I'm sorry I missed it but had to work, but I can "relive" the experience from your story & photos ...until I get a chance to make the trip myself. I also got the scoop from Greg ...hope our injured comrade is recuperating ok.

Northern Goose: Thanks for the "well wishes" re my son. He's hobbling around on crutches ...and probably for a few weeks. No broken bones - just soft tissue. As parents we hope that our kids might learn from OUR mistakes with the wisdom we pass-on, but unfortunately the nature of the beast is that they must learn from their own mistakes! Oh well! ...and as for the crash bars, they're on my list of things to do!!

Just got off the line with the DR and he is in great spirits. His daughter is in George with him and his wife is right across the hall or something so the family is reunited at last!!

Surgery is tentatively scheduled for tonight at 7. Told him we have his bike tied up as a hostage in my shed so he'll have to come and get it. I smell a BBQ!!

Sounds like he may be taking a FOUR MONTH VACATION. I shoulda fallen, that would be GREAT:D

Anyhow that's the news.

Who's coming tonight?

What time and where?

Thanks for the update. It is good to know that he's in good spirits. I think I'd be drinking spirits to numb the pain! BBQ sounds good. We should plan something for when he's feeling ok for a CAR ride out here.

As for tonight, I'm up for a ride. Working 'til 5pm and then I'll deliver my son's papers (he doesn't get sick benefits!), but after that's ok.I'll check here beforetheend of the day.I'll send you a PM. :talk:

He said he's out of town until I can't remember when exactly maybe around that time. Gimme a shout 615 0209 when you get hold of hima nd we can try and form something a bit more solid. Same with you Kermodei.

OK. I called his mobile # about 3 minutes ago and left him a message saying we're planning to head out around 6:30pm and to call me.

I'll be away from the computer for the next half hour or so.

klrnorth: Call me on my mobile - I PM'd you my numbers earlier today.
