I'd like to get out for a boot today. This afternoon or evening if the weather is holding up for whoever is still around. Had to sleep in a bit for once this week.

I puttered around Williams Creek for a couple of hours. Lots of trails ...easy to get lost up there if you start following the turn offs. My chain/sprockets have started growling so I guess it's time to swap them out (23,000km). About 30kms in it was getting a bit spooky...here's a couple of pics...between showers/clouds

The K270 Front is now off ...a Bridgestone TW21 is now on. The difference is night & day. That 3"x21 K270 was like riding a razor blade.

Soon after starting...and below is "another" valley to wander up.

 Say it isn't so! I hope I don't feel the same way!

Nice pics though Solo Rider! I'm free for an early Sat (preferably early or really late)/ Sunday really early jaunt. Anyone? Nothing harsh for Sunday, me working later.

Summer is here and within a blink it will pass. In July and August, quite a few weekends are open on my schedule, and I know I made an offer of usage to those that attended the Meet N Greet and nobody has taken me up on that. I still plan on heading out as much as I possibly can. As for invites, that's not really required, email me @ [email protected] or PM me if you wish to go out.

As for the Dr, hope you are feeling better! If I head out sooner than later, I will deliver your bike or at least most of the parts anyways. I'll let you know when, alternatively you can send me your itinerary via the same method as stated earlier. Or I could just deliver the remnants and your family could join mine and just call it a Retreat. ( Hmm, call it whatever you like)

Re-checking the schedule also shows the first few weekends in September as available for Frivolous times. So in short it appears I'm merely trying to lure someone to come and explore the Fraser Lake area with me. How callous, I'm merely attempting to deflect the screaming, punching, kicking and cheapshots in your general direction!

Seems there is now too many good choices for rides available. However the WiFi informed me this morning that I have clearance to have a Boyz weekend at the Casa of No Frills (Fraser Lake), and she's not interested in going. Where that came from has me somewhat perplexed, but how can I refuse the offer. Meaning, seeing as I have some chores to attend to, weeds and tree butchering, I will be heading there on July 9th and staying til at least Sunday afternoonish or later if needed. Exploring the area is definitely on the agenda, so if anyone is interested let me know.

Thinking of attempting the Telkwa Pass tomorrow on Canada Day. Anyone interested?

Wow, not much notice. I'd love to go but neither my Pig nor I would be any shape to depart tomorrow. Not having done the Pass yet so I wouldn't know, but rumour suggests several water crossings may be somewhat high right now, or better yet, very DEEP?

I'm looking at clips online. Does anyone have thoughts on the water crossings this time of year? I'm from Houston so it isn't a big deal if I have to turn around but it would be nice to know if it's a lost cause from the word go.

Tempting...I could run out on Friday10th (spend Saturday recovering) & back Sunday. Hopefully I'll get chain & sprockets onnext week before I do anything distance wise. So I'mat the mercy of USPS & Canada Post. That's why my rough "travel" dates are 18-26 July-ish.

Edit: :helpI now have a major electrical problem that probably has me grounded for a week or two...see photo (...click it for more)

"3) sounds great ...like most things we need to set some dates. Otherwise time goes by & we all do our own thing. (..and I'm as guilty as anyone at making a decision) - Here's some sort of package deal (no particular order- weather & date dependant - 18-26 July-ish )"

Picking dates is like pulling teeth!:mad3:Weather dependent planning on the Wet Coast will diminish your ride options. So July 9,10, 11, 12 I will travel to the Lake and explore the area. If the Robbodoser manages the Telkwa pass tommorrow and reports it as passable. I will Solo it if need be, on the 9th or 10th and continue on to the Lake for the weekend. If he doesn't report backor didn't go, I will go July 17, 18, 19, 20, try the pass and carry on to the Lake. Rain or shine! I will swap weekends if needed, but not for weather.

For July 25/26 weekend. One of the two but probably the 26th, will be the Hazeltons or Rose Day. rain or shine.

Bella Coola/ Chilcotin- Mid August? !4/15/16.

See my message just above ...and latest BREAKING news!
I need a Tech Day at my place...
I think we clicked "send" at the same time. By "weather dependant" I meant that once "on the road" the weather tends to encourage or deter certain routes.

OK ...fixed (or should I say frigged out?) ..the starter circuit relay now has a 3" wire jumper. Click photo above for more...

IMPORTANT - all KLR owners (incl. 2008+ I would expect) take off the plastic cover on the left side and zip-tie the relay in place

Hey Kitimat, I think you may have got a blessing in disguise. Am I right that the fallen comrade is the cut out switch for the kick stand? If so disable it anyhow since it is prone to fail in the worst of places. I think it's a matter of linking the two cables at the handle bar left or right I don't know. Do a search for something like disabling the kick stand kill switch or something. It's been on my list but I haven't yet done it to the KLR. You may be back in action sooner than your thought if I am right which happen sometimes.

We used to have to do it on all of our roadrace bikes as they're not allowed to have kick stands. For most bikes its a plunger style switch that contacts the kickstand. If you splice the two wires together, the bike will run in gear with the kickstand down.

I didn't make the Telkwa Pass on the weekend. I hiked Nadina Mountain instead. I'm debating doing the Pass next Sunday or one day next week after work. Has anyone ever timed it out? My little map says 120km but that could mean a lot of things depending on how many wide open sections there are. I fit somewhere in the middle tending towards fast and I've thought about doing it after work one day but I really don't want to be stuck riding it out after dark.

It's pretty fast all the way out to about 60k then slower spending on how many and their piloting experience for maybe five k or so through the pass. Then it pick's up pace again all the way to Telkwa. It took me and a buddy who is pretty quick about 8 hours three or four years aga if I remember right and that's the highway home as well. Long day but nothing like last year....that was nutz:shoot:

I expect snow in the pass still though. I'd like to scout it out though and maybe try and get up trapper on teh way back. I want to get out this weekend anywhere for a good one.

If the rides/hikes that I've done this season are any indication, I'd say it should be all right. The snow pack doesn't seem all that bad this year. The highest point of the trail shows 800 meters here:

telkwa_pass.gif

Nadina from yesterday is 2300 meters and was clear all the way to the top. A few areas in the relative shade at the very top still had snow but not much. I've been up the Telkwa range a few times this year, as recently as last week; I only hit snow once I hit the alpine and it was patchy I wish I'd taken a GPS reading with the altitude but I have my doubts that the trail for the pass goes that high.

Yeah...it's along those lines ...this relay switches the Starter Relay. By using the jumper wire it bypasses the clutch lever ...but the sidestand "cut out" is still active - apparently that's something else.If (when) the sidestand switch fails I'll neuter it at that time! ...I've often set of with the sidestand down (well tried to...) ...Hmm now I remember my old streetbikes!

Sorry Folks - I keep hijacking this thread :TTT:
