Well, I attended my first DSBC gathering this weekend, and I would have to say that this has been my absolute BEST motorcycle experience so far.
I packed up, and left Victoria about 9:30
One final "Goodbye"
Started my weekend off in usual Myran fashion
Seems you need more than a learners in order to roam free unchecked. As there was no cell coverage, I was told by a very polite peace officer I would have to walk back several miles to the nearest phone, call my wife in Victoria, have her hook up the trailer and come pick me up past Campbell River. Cool. Way, way Cool. Just then a rider pulled up on a Japanese road bike, something like 8000 cc 's. I asked if that gentleman would be a suitable supervisor, and was told " Sure, if he wants to". If there is a Heaven, then James I know there's a special place with a view set aside for you. And if there isn't, I'll see what I can do. I know some people. So, when I pulled into Woss (yes, it really is a place, not just a made up word) tired, stiff, and feeling the effects of no coffee, I was greeted with the most welcome sight.
A group of DSBC riders, fresh in off a nice ride were enjoying beverages and ice cream-like stuff. So, instead of having to find my own way, I was smartly escorted to my room with a view
A quick unloading, and it seemed before I knew it a quick ride was led by organizer and guide Dave (Islandhopper).
The next morning (Saturday) saw our group, again led by Islandhopper, off on a trip that was to include routes through Ports Alice and Hardy, but alas, large groups consume time that somehow seemed suspended.
Caves disappearing into the ground, sinkholes and old mines were scattered about the well planned route.
A tire changing class, again organized and led by our good host and, dare I say it, friend?, Islandhopper Dave.
Now, not everything turns out as we would like, but in the face of adversity, I would like to state here and now that the spirit of teamwork, kinship was never more evident than on this trip, and I am proud to say that Ihave had the honor of riding with you all. And let me also say, that without a doubt Mrs. Bajaman it has been my honor and my priviledge to have made your acquaintance.
Alas, all good things must come to an end,and so too did this day.
As I said on Saturday, I can't remember having had so much fun and still had all my clothes on.
I left this morning under the tutelage of Al, of the Surrey Sue and Als. A quick sidetrip to view some awesome caves,

and we were off to points South, Al for Nanaimo, I for Vic. Another stop in Woss(keep saying that word to yourself. See what happens!) for coffee and fuel, and the slab unrolled before us like the tongue of a German Shepherd on a hot summer day. I planned on stopp in in Courtney, but seat induced distress convinced me to stop short, and use the gas in my jerry can. Across the road, an elderly gent was trying to flag down some help. Being away from DSBC riders, Human beings quickly reaffirmed my general opinion of folks, ans deftly swerved to avoid causing any assistance. So, as I topped up my tank, my collegue Al tempted Fate, crossed the "Highway Of No Hope" and spat in the faces of the Gods and defied them by rendering DIRECTIONS!!!
After an experience like that everything else was smooth and easy. I parted ways with Al in Nanaimo, thanks for everything, and finished up in town at about 2:30.
What a weekend.
