I've been having some issues with the TW lately, but since receiving a new part, I thought I had things beat so I took her for a test drive yesterday. In hindsight, maybe choosing the Borden Creek FSR wasn't the best idea...
Coming home along Chwk Lk rd, I hit a bump in the road and suddenly I was in neutral....no gears! Turns out, a stick that I picked up along the FSR had wedged itself into the swingarm and when I hit the bump in the road, it jammed into my sprocket and de-railed the chain. When I got home, I adjusted the chain but something didn't sound right, so I thought I might have ruined the output bearing...on TW's you have to remove the left engine case to change sprockets/service the bearing, so I was into that for a few hours - working in the dark by the time I was finished. Oil change, chain cleaning and lubing...we're all set for tomorrow!
This morning, as I go to load her into the truck...the rear is FLAT. The rear tire on these is a 180/80 x 14...which means I'm going to have a helluva time repairing it. After all the crap I went through with the initial problem, then replacing the bearing last night...this broke my spirit...there's no way I could get this fixed in time.
In other words...have a great ride...this is the second time we've missed the Fall ride, and this one had the promise of a good one, with the weather co-operating and all!
See you all at the Spring ride.
Damn.
