Spring Newbie Ride - Chilliwack

I rode my 650 V-Strom, bought in Oct., stalk street tires, on the Fall Newbe Ride, had been riding the Super Sherpa for a couple of years. Same start and finish points as the upcoming Spring Newbe Ride. The Newbe Ride is a good place to lay it down for the first time, there is lots of strong people to help pick it up. It is not a matter if, it is a matter of when it is laid down for the first time. Hoping there will be no snow.

I am in for the ride.

There was snow last year in the higher elevations. It was a different start and finish.

If we hit snow, we can turn around and stay in the low country.

Hey Scott, as a Vstrom owner and a Chilliwacko that has travelled most every dirt road in the Chilliwack River Valley/Cultus Lake area, I would say that it's just not a good idea, unless he is really prepared to drop that bike and suffer some damage. New bike, big plastic body panels, seriously exposed oil cooler and filter, 90/10 street tires, heavy dead weight and no off road experience add upsomeone's dad crying in the middle of the Chilliwack rainforest.

The last Fall Newbie Ride was my first DSBC event and loved it. Count me in for this one as well.

I'll try to get there, I have an XT250 this tear , I won't have to ride the XS650 again!

I'm no expert... But I "THINK" Suzuki sells the V-Strom as an adventure bike, it comes with more or less aggressive tires stock right? (Aggressive as in not street slicks)

the stock tire on the vstorm is some where between the a street slick and the trial wings that came on my drz400 stock

Guys do the ride on 1200GS's with Anakees on them. (I have done the route in the summer on my GS.) I have seen guys on V-Stroms too. Just stay out of the snow and watch it in the mud.

But, if you are worried about dropping your bike, than don't go. Riding on the slick mud with hard frozen ground underneath. You can go down really fast.:hr: I wouldn't do it without crash bars on a bike like a V-Strom.

Having said all this, come on out and meet everybody.:tup: Do part of the ride or ride on the street and stay for the Lunch.:dr:

so i talked to my dad and he read the this thread, he does not want to take the chance of dropping his bike yet, it is still brand new. he said he want to get use to the bike on the street first. and then just stick to nice flat dirt and gravel later in the year.

I'm in
(since I am a "noob" around here).
Last time I was up that way, sleepy hollow road had a big ugly gate stretched across it. I hope we won't have to deal with it?
