Can you buy gasoline in Tahsis on the week-end or should I bring extra ? It's been a looong time since I was there and most everything used to be closed on the week-ends.

Looking forward to a GREAT week-end!!!

We do have a gas station...does'nt mean there is gas..last week they did'nt have any.I talked to the owner and he told me that he would have gas and be open Sat and Sun.Worst case ..I have and 2000l envoro tank with and meter on it and I have about 400l in it today...so no worries.....

Sounds ok by me , what time do you think you will get to Gold River? Also if any one else from south of Comox would like to meet me here post up and we can arrange a meet.

Sign me up for the trip as well! I'll be riding the xr650. Only thing is, I work all day on Friday so I won't be able to leave McNeill until 5pm at the earliest. I miiight be able to take half the day off on friday but not likely. One other problem, I can't remember the way! Last time I went to Tahsis I was in follow mode and didn't absorb the route. I do remember there is a 3 way intersection with a sign that says Tahsis 62, and Woss 63. If I can get directions to that spot, I can make it.

I'm getting the cast off tomorrow morning but still may need a day or so to determine how well the leg's healing up. If the new bone is at least harder then the old brain I'll be heading out friday after work as well. But I'll post up thursday night to confirm one way or the other.

Hey 450x... don't worry I still remember the way...

nahhhhhhh...you'd be fine!!!!!!...Now I would likely get lost!!!!..Play it by ear for friday..I'd rather ride as a group...like mentioned before.Paul.S

I'm flying in to Campbell the night of the 24th to meet up with my old man (Redhed) and ride his XL600 into town. We'll be riding to Tahsis on Friday afternoon at a leisurely pace as it will be my first time on the XL and I'm sure it will take some ass-justments. :p

I'm not going to post map to camp ground...it's easy to find.Drive right though town, about 2km,when you see the Government dock, the camp is right next to it on the left side.

If no one is there, just set your camp up...the owners know we are coming.

Things to watch out for on Tahsis/GR road....

-People driving FAST to leave town..it's Friday night...KEEP TO YOUR SIDE OF THE ROAD.
-Off highway logging trucks.
-Deer and Elk...there's lots.

If theres anything else...redhead,GrumpyKTM post up.

Looks like I'm going to have to get more Hotdogs/Pop/chips...more people sighing up...YA

In addition to what Bajaman mentioned,.. "keep your eyes on the road at all times". Watch for loose gravel build up on the corners and shoulders. It has been dry here for a while now and is dusty on some of the gravel sections. We may have some light rain Thursday, so it will help. Take it easy and enjoy the ride in. They have only regular graded gas in Tahsis, 86-87 octane.

Cast is off and Doc said the leg's healing up fine. Still alot of pain and limited mobility but seems to be improving the more I move around. So the report for Friday is go. As long as I can walk without assistance I'll be leaving out of McNeill friday evening.
