Day 22, Uris to Imuris, 270k.
This last full day south of the border started with the now commonplace very twisty pavement on the the way north. Time constraints have nixed some of the planned dirt sections on the way north but has taken nothing away from the trip. The dirt we do get to ride on today had spectacular traction thanks to some rain squalls that were circling around us. Made for some spirited fun riding.
But all that fun will have to wait as first we need our Nescafe and Rancheros and today it will be served to us at the local bus depot. It was a little odd having breaky there with all sorts of folks milling about but it filled our guts.

the bus schedule is painted on the wall.

on the road we were once again blipping in and out of one town after another.

after several hours of paved track we were once again, and for the last time on this trip, back where 690's should be, on dirt!

We arrived in Imuris with plenty of time felt in the day. As the bikes have to be clean to cross the border we dropped in on Popeyes car wash. Not sure what chemicals he was using in the pressure washer but it sure did a number on the screen saver on my GPS, good thing we are almost back to the truck.

We have now checked in to the very fancy almost resort like Hotel, strangely fancy considering where we are. After relaxing in the sun with a bevy beside the now filled with dirt pool, we rode down the short distance for a big feed of chicken for our last dinner of the trip. I think we ate 1.5 chickens.

And that, was our last day in Mexico for this epic trip of the Copper Canyon for 2022. There are a few tracks left unridden so perhaps another trip will be done in the future!

Day 23, Imuris to somewhere in California.
Here we are passing thru the inspection/customs station. With aftermarket gas tanks installed finding the proper ID tags on the bikes can be a bit of a challenge but in a very short time we were off for the border about 20k away.

on the north side of the border back to the truck, time to start the journey home. The plan is to head north east-ish to Moab for a day ride, and maybe have a pop with the Kamloops/Vancouver boys that will be there before heading home.

...something about best laid plans? Stu's truck is sick with a perhaps failing head gasket so plan B is now in effect. Moab has been axed for this trip as it will add some 700k that we just can't chance. The route home now will dump us right into Las Vegas as night arrived. We got a Hotel mere steps off of Freemont street and as unsettling as it felt the staff insisted that the truck full of bikes and gear will be perfectly fine parked right out front on the street. And it was.
It was to say the very least a stunningly surreal scene leaving the wilds of Mexico, a place where the bare necessities of life are, barely there and to arrive in the land of opulent overkill. We mused at the mind blowing reaction of any one of the the many native Taramuhara Indians sitting in the middle of nowhere beside the road would have in blindfolded then dropped into the middle of this pure craziness. Mind blowing indeed!
Not sure who this Biden person is but apparently this fella doesn't like him.

another one of the Zanies who is happy to dance for vodka and cigarettes! Truth in advertising.

and yes the overhead light show was dazzling.

and this is the tail end pic. of this long winded ride report, and his front side was just as colorful!

After Vegas we limped the truck home adding more fluid to the rad every hundred miles or so or as needed all the way home.
And that, boys and girls, is it. The end of this ride report has arrived. It was for us (me?) perhaps the most epic adventure ride yet, it will be a long time before this one it topped!
Thanks to my riding pals for all their reliable skills on and offa the road. Thanks especially to Stu and Floyd for all the planning of where to go and how to get there.
Thanks also to those that have vicariously travelled thru this ride report in their armchairs, hope you've hade a good ride.

as always, thx fer lookin.
Wayne.
