happy new years everyone, so much for the mayan calender.
we,ve been in equador for a couple of days now and crossed over our first 13400ft pass, 4.7 degrees c, and lousy visibility, you think the whopping 36hp a klr has is bad, try getting even close to that at that elevation. we crossed over to the amazon side and we have been rewarded with lots of precipitation pretty much rained all day today, though it fortunately stopped just as we rode a 10k section of sloppy mud leaving us a bunch of dirty boys. Al has been flying semi solo for his second day now and should be now if he found gas and will need a new back tire, at least very soon. On the beer scale Equador is very affordable 1.25 for a 750ml bottle and 10 bucks will feed us all.
how bout a few pictures, first a couple of transportation shots,
got this pic leaving bogota, there's four adults in that mini car and everything including the kitchen sink, they were laughing themselves silly when they saw me take the shot
yes its the wrong side of the road but the other lanes are being used, on the way to the border out of honduras, i think.
a different mode of transport though we didnt get to see much, this is (obviously) a transport ship, passing thru the panama canal
you may not be able to use DDT or 24d at home, but it sure comes in handy when crossing into central american countries. though we were charged for this "service" at each crossing this fella was the only one to do it and boy was hey thorough.
you,ve heard the expression "busier than a three legged dog in a pissing contest", well how about a four legged dog with 5 (or 6) paws.
when in costa rica in monte verde mark and floyd did a walkabout in the cloud forest where mark found a friend and let it "stick" around for awhile

what the sky looks like when the cloud forest leaves the skies blue, and red, and yellow,,
did you hear the story about Al in baja, and how he trashed a rear wheel, completely, and how he was heard to say afterwards, "well i guess i coulda slowed down", sure Al you could have but,,, and this one is from one of the many pothole strewn roads we,ve been on.
thats enuf for tonite, though there are three supposed wifi connections at the hotel were staying at, i am sitting in an internet place because as usual the one at the hotel doesnt work and there is no-one to make it work, alls well hope the first two days of the year have been good to you all. una mas dia en equador, then onto country number 11, Peru.

Looks like you guys are Having Good times so far ~ Are you at some point stopping to spend any time in any one place or is the trip a 3 month ride about ? .. Hope you can find a hammer or nice rock to straighten that rim..haha Cheers Mi AmiGo ~ B~Rad
