the big part of this ubilt bike thing is getting a bc legal serial # that will stand up to inspection,or at least firmly put my "ubilt" motorcycle in the ubilt category. when does the serial # get issued-when i walk into the motor vehicle office with a frame that has no serial # on it under my arm or after i have assembled my "ubilt motorcycle" out of pieces that i have procured at garage sales or ebay or where-ever? i want the check list of what the inspectors require to sign me off as meeting their requirements, and thus giving me the right to licence and insure my ubilt in this province without the fear of some one sending me in for an "inspection that i can not pass" as someone mentioned earlier in this thread! if i have to start this with a piece of chromemoly tube and build from there-so be it,i'll show up with my piece of pipe, get my serial # and go home and build myself a motorcycle! the home built chopper riders don't seem to be worried about the man coming along and pulling the rug out from under their high dollar ubilt bikes! i want the same rules and privilege that they have, i spent an afternoon a while back trying to find the list-guess what,5 or 6 government offices later,no one had a friggn' clue what i was talking about!
